You are probably wondering, “yeah, I know I’m not a tree, but Omar what are you talking about?” Well, the answer is simple, are you where you want to be? Are you in a location where you can be all you can be? If not, move to a location where you can be, all you can be! We are not trees, we don’t need to be planted, nor have roots to stay alive.

I say this today, as one of my friends is considering to “replant” themselves to another location after realizing that where they had move to a few years back, was going to be the ultimate location, but unfortunately it turned out to be a bust, for their personal interests! And this is Ok, in fact, I give them kudos for realizing it and being brave enough to admit it to themselves!

We need to examine our goals, our ambitions, our desires and compare those against our daily activities, against our daily actions. Then we have to determine, are they congruent? If not, “Houston, we have problem.” If your daily actions and activities take you further away from your dreams and ambitions, perhaps is time to look at your surroundings. Are they helping or hindering your efforts? Are the people around you the right people you need to be around? Are the localities near you conducive to the results you want?

These days people will argue this, and to an extent, they are right! Due to the interconnectivity through social media, email and all the internet gadgets available that keep you connected, that your physical location is becoming less and less of an issue these days. I agree with this statement, until you delve into the results of your year-end analysis (see my blog from Nov 27th, 2013 titled: Time For Reflection). You should have discovered what your accomplishments and defeats were. Did you look at your accomplishments and defeats from the point of view of your current location?

If not, let’s go back and take another look at our accomplishments and defeats for the year, and try to figure out if your current location (business, home, city, state, company) is leading you or holding you back. You will be amazed of what you may come up with. I am currently doing the same, just to make sure that I am, where I need to be.
