Many clients come to me searching to balance their work-life schedule. I know that life can be hectic and so may be your career, but I’d like to give to my readers the following exercise to help you.
Try the following exercise:
Every morning, before you begin your day, preferably this should be done the night before, but the morning of, is good enough for now. Try the following:
- Brainstorm your activities for the day (appointments, calls, trainings, write-ups, billing, etc)
- Assign priorities to these activities
- Work on 4-6 priorities each day
- Set your calendar in blocks of time to allow you to work on these activities according to your priorities.
- Try not to deviate from the priorities for the day.
After day one, it was probably a disaster, but don’t give up! Find out what didn’t work. Here is a hint, did you put too much on your calendar? Probably.Change it for the next day, work on less priorities and be realistic with the time each take. Keep trying. I guarantee you that if you stick to this, that by day 5, not weeks or months but by day #5, your days should be better organized and less stressed out.
Here is an article that I wrote, that I feel is very closely related to this subject. Always keep your vision as your guiding thought! When in doubt about your priorities, check your vision!
